Over many years there has been much confusion about one of Belle Isle's many institutions: the Casino. this is not a gambling casino, but instead uses that old sense of the phrase, an area for "public entertainments." This Casino has been used for this specific purpose since the original structure was integrated the 1880s, becoming a gathering spot for Detroiters for generations.
The first building to be called the Casino was internal 1887, as Belle Isle was being turned into a municipal park. It was constructed to keep events, bazaars, and things of that nature, which its successor was created to do as well. The original building burnt down noisy . 1900s.
The original building was replaced in 1907 using a building produced by the firm of Van Leyen and Schilling. This building has continued to serve its function successfully for approximately 10 years now, and it is future seems being secure well in the future, inspite of the problems that Belle Isle has had in recent years.
